WHAT IS "ÂMBAR"?
Let us finally explain the meaning of our name: "ÂMBAR" is "AMBER" in english.
As we decided to set up a lodge, we burned out our neurons trying to find the right name for it . We were never quite sure we had found the right name...
One day, while checking through a dictionary of symbols, which we always had at home, the word "amber" captured my attention… Then I suddenly knew the search was over! In fact, I found it a beautiful arabic word that sounded like a mantra itself… describing such a fine and simple matter… just like the expression… and what a fascinating symbolic and mystical characteristics. In short: THAT WAS IT!!!
Our logo is an artistic interpretation of the amber in watercolor. The wonderful thing about it is that each one sees it somewhat differently from one another: a stone, a fruit, the sun, an eye, a piece of wood… that is, some of the nicest, elemental, timeless, and universal things mankind has the privilege to contemplate!!!

For the most curious ones, here is what the dictionary of symbols says about "amber", which was the reason why we named the lodge after that symbol: Amber (from the Greeck elektron) - also called succinite, in mineralogy - is a fossilized tree resin provenient from conifers that used to flourish million of years ago, especially in the Baltic Sea region.
During the Neolithic period it was used as a valuable ornament traded through long overland journeys (the amber routes) to the most remote areas. Greek mathematician and philosopher Thales of Mileto (c.600 b.C.) was known to understand the "electron's" capability of attracting light objects after being friction-heated (that's where our concept of "electricity" came from). Such characteristic (inflammability) and its yellowish color turned amber into a very exotic material in the Mediterranean, and a very much appreciated element with which amulets were made to be worn against souls of other worlds and evil beings of all kinds. Those characteristics are still believed to be responsible for keeping headaches and nightmares away.
Polished yellow pieces of amber were regarded as solidified sunrays (during Antiquity it was considered to be the son of Helios', Phaëthon, teardrops).
Stars symbology associates Amber to planet Mercury. Also, in ancient China imported amber was well known, and because of its composition it was acknowledged as old pine-tree resin. The Chinese word for it, 'hu-po", means "tiger soul", a reference to the belief that the warrior animal's soul would turn into amber after the death of the animal."
Encyclopedia enthusiasts will certainly want to know a lot more about amber. For those, we can suggest a search on Google!!!
